well, it is a sad day for me, but after the hurricane a few weeks ago, I had to sit down and seriously consider my cars. 3 of my cars got flooded in all the rain we got, and when I was working to dry them out, I said "enough is enough".

I don't have the time, money, or energy to fix up my projects. I am going to cut my losses and get rid of most of my fleet. I have already started stripping my 1988 Cutlass Supreme (the gold car), and my 1990 Grand Prix STE. Once they are stripped out of all their good stuff, I am calling the wrecker to come get them. The black 1992 is ready to go now, as well as the pink 1996. That will leave me with my 1994 Cutlass Supreme vert, and my 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII. Once I am sure the Mark VIII is stable, I am going to sell the vert to a friend of mine, and just wash my hands of w-bodies.

I am just going to keep the newest car in my fleet, and maybe one day, I will get back into GM's.

I've messed with this thing a lot these past couple weeks. A lot of it has been replacing worn out odds and ends like some wiring, hoses, belt...all kinds of stuff here and there. Today after replacing the radiator[my old one was all beat up and half the fins were flattened, pulled it out of an 88 Buick], I noticed that only my right cooling fan[standing in front of the car facing the engine] was kicking in. I let the car run for an hour...the coolant cycled over and over and each time, only that one fan kicked in. So I went back to that Buick and yanked the left fan. Put it on my car and it still would not turn on for anything. Do these fans each turn on independently or do I have a wiring issue somewhere? If it is a wiring issue, can I run a parallel circuit from the working fan to the non-working one?

Also, I cleaned up the engine compartment. It used to look like someone smeared s#1t all over it, and then two bottles of LA's Totally Awesome Cleaner and a pressure wash later, it looks brand new. Here's some B&A pics for you all. Sorry in advance for the discombobulated sizes and pic quality; Photobucket fails and I used my cell cam

Junkyard Stories?

A trip to the junkyard today turned out pretty odd. It was my first REAL trip to the junkyard today[the first trip was in and out, I didn't have enough detail and I grabbed the wrong part.]

I was wondering if anyone else has had an odd find or interesting day at the junkyard. Post a story or share comments on someone else's story.

My story starts off with my 89 Olds CS International. I had taken a quick trip a few weeks ago to the junkyard, had them look up a compatible replacement list. I searched a couple cars in the yard and ended up pulling an A/C compressor. Bolted it on and realized it didn't have the right high/low pressure sensors. I drove around with it for a few weeks with no problems aside from the A/C not blowing cold air.

Today's trip was so odd because I called my mom asking if I could pick up a few tools from the garage at her house. She said yes, then asked if she could ride with me to look for some doors and a carb for her truck. She showed me the way to a junkyard that just opened here that I'd never been to.

We went in and parted ways. I headed to the GM cars section and she headed to the GM truck section in the back. After I browsed a few compatible vehicles, she called me and told me she found one of our old vehicles, a '78 Chevy C-10 Custom Deluxe. I didn't believe her, as we haven't owned this truck for 12 years and the junkyard just opened this year[im 19 now].

I walked over to where she was, and there it was. The truck my mom bought for $100 when I was probably 8. I knew without a doubt that was the same one when I saw the same aluminum tape my mom used to patch some rusted spots on the body; and the blue spray paint peeling away, revealing the original red color. I looked around a little more and the Edelbrock valve covers were still on it, along with the sticker on the driver's side back window.

I looked around and took a short video of it, then my mom asked if we could go. We walked back to the door and on my way, and something caught my eye....a green Cutlass a couple years older than mine at the most with the same A/C controls. I took note of where it was and just as I closed the door, I saw a box of brake pads sitting in the back seat. They looked exactly like the ones my car uses so I grabbed them. They turned out to be the same ones so I decided I'm gonna pull the decent looking rotors I saw in the second yard I went to and have them turned.

The second yard I stopped at yielded the correct A/C compressor. While I was under the car, an 89 Pontiac Grand Prix, I noticed that the transmission in it was pretty shiny and new-looking.

So all in all my day digging through junkyards came out to be pretty interesting.

has it really been over a year since I was here?

Lets see, what all has changed.

I still have the 1988 Cutlass Supreme, but have not touch it since the transmission blew.

I still have the 1990 Grand Prix STE. It is about to go back on the road for the first time in almost 2 years.

I still have the 1994 Cutlass Supreme vert. It is my current daily driver.

I SOLD my 1995 Cutlass Supreme sl to a friend. I miss it but he loves it. (I didn't sell it with the STE wheel on it. I swapped those back out about a month after selling it too him. I had used the green cars wheels and tires to get the vert home).

I have 2 new toys. This is a 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix I picked up for $500. It was going to be a small project, but I ended up giving it too my roommate to fix up. I got my hands full with my other new toy.

This is my NEWEST (in more ways that 1) project. This is a 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII. I got it from a coworker for only $200.00

It was her husbands car, and he got a new truck, so he gave it to his brother. His brother trashed the car, and when he got arrested, they found out he never had the title swapped over, so they sold it to me instead (all done legally). He ran it into the ground, but drivetrain wise, it is solid. Just needs minor stuff and it will be my daily driver.

has it really been over a year since I was here?

Hi, I'm Anthony. I drive a 1989 Olds Cutlass Supreme International Series with a 2.8l. My sister killed it [no idea how] and I am slowly but surely breathing life back into it. It runs perfectly now, as you can see in the video. But you can also see that it's peeling like it's got sunburn so I plan to paint it very soon.

Work done so far: Head gaskets, top end clean up, basic tune up[spark plugs, DOUBLE oil change, fuel filter, air filter, etc], new stereo

Next up is a turn signal switch and a new paint job. [Black]

Here's a couple pics and videos. The pics are right after I got it, and the videos are right after I put head gaskets on it.
